How Free Job Visibility Works on Indeed
Overview
Posting a job to Indeed does not guarantee free or organic visibility. Indeed considers the way a job was posted, the employer's location, and whether the job meets its posting requirements.
For customers using Team Engine, the most important rule is simple: keep one current version of each job in Team Engine and let Team Engine remain the source of truth for Indeed.
Jobs posted directly on Indeed
Indeed's current Free Job Post Policy applies to jobs posted directly in an Indeed Employer account.
In the United States and Canada, Indeed states that employers can post up to three free direct jobs per calendar month, and each of those jobs may appear in search results for up to 30 days. Closing a job does not restore a free-post slot during that month.
Jobs sent through an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), such as Team Engine, are not affected by this direct-post policy. That does not mean every ATS-sent job will receive organic visibility: Indeed may still limit visibility or require sponsorship when a job does not meet its quality, duplicate, or other posting requirements.
Why a job may need sponsorship
Sponsorship can be required for several reasons, including:
- A direct job has reached Indeed's free-post limit or time limit.
- The job looks like a duplicate or a recently reopened version of an existing role.
- The title, description, location, or application experience does not meet Indeed's posting standards.
- The role falls under another Indeed policy that requires sponsorship.
Do not assume a sponsorship prompt is caused only by the age of the job.
What to do in Team Engine
- Keep the job current in Team Engine. Update pay, schedule, location, benefits, duties, and hiring status as they change.
- Avoid creating the same job directly on Indeed. A second version can create a duplicate or source-conflict issue.
- Close or archive filled roles promptly. Leave only real, active openings live.
- Use one source for job updates. If Team Engine is distributing the job, make changes in Team Engine rather than creating a separate version on Indeed.
If Indeed flags the job
- Log in to your Indeed Employer Dashboard and open the job to review the message and sponsorship options.
- Check the job in Team Engine for duplicate, outdated, or incomplete information.
- If you believe the flag is incorrect, contact Indeed Employer Support through your Indeed account.
Team Engine Pro customers can receive hands-on job-health and Indeed troubleshooting support. This service can help identify correctable issues and prepare an appropriate escalation, but it cannot guarantee that Indeed will restore organic visibility.
