How to Meet Indeed's Job Posting Quality Standards

Overview

Indeed requires job posts to be accurate, easy to read, and professional. A job that does not meet these standards may be hidden, removed, shown lower in search, or require sponsorship.

Strong job content also helps candidates decide whether the role is right for them before they apply.

Use a clear, professional job title

Use the real title for the role. Keep it short, accurate, and easy to understand.

Good: Landscape Crew Leader

Avoid: LANDSCAPE CREW LEADER — $25/HR!!! APPLY NOW!!!

Do not add clickbait, emojis, symbols, pay, location, shift details, or unrelated keywords to the title. Put those details in the description instead.

Include the details candidates need

Your job description should clearly include:

  • Company name
  • Pay or salary information
  • Work hours or schedule
  • Benefits, when offered
  • Key responsibilities and duties
  • Accurate location information
  • Required licenses, experience, or qualifications

Write in complete sentences using a professional, straightforward tone.

Avoid spam-like formatting and keyword stuffing

Do not use:

  • All caps or excessive punctuation
  • Repeated words or job titles intended to influence search results
  • Long lists of unrelated titles or competitor names
  • Vague language that does not explain the actual job

Good: We are hiring a full-time diesel mechanic. Pay starts at $27 per hour. The role includes preventative maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles.

Avoid: HIRING MECHANIC $$$ GREAT PAY!!! MECHANIC JOBS MECHANIC TECHNICIAN APPLY NOW!!!

Quick quality check before you publish

Before posting from Team Engine, confirm:

  • The title is the real title for one specific role.

  • The posting explains why a candidate should apply without using hype or misleading claims.
  • The job does not repeat keywords or promote several unrelated roles in one listing.
  • The job is still open and has not already been posted elsewhere on Indeed.
