Messaging Limits

Cell phone carries impose certain limits on the lengths that text messages should be. By keeping messages within these limits, they are less likely to be filtered out because they exceed the character limit. In order to keep your team's messages within these limits, and therefore increase the likelihood of deliverability, Team Engine has added alerts to your messages when applicable.

What are these limits?

  • If a text message is all standard characters, the limit is 1500 characters.
  • If a text message has any "special" characters, the limit is 670 characters.

Special characters are: emojis, symbols, some punctuation marks, or other characters that are not standard alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers).

Examples of Special Characters:
  • Accented Characters: á â ç í î ó ô ú ÿ
  • Mathematical Symbols: ½ ≠ ≈ ∞
  • Other Symbols: ¢ § © ® ™

What do I do if I want to send a message longer than this?

We will advice you to either modify your message to fit within the limits, remove unnecessary special characters and/or send your message as is by email.

What will the warning look like?
